Vintage Vest Pocket - Coat Pocket - Purse Lights

This is some of my vest pocket, coat pocket and purse lights in my collection of over 60 lights. Maybe at some point I'll get another gallery for those not seen here.

On the right we have an Eveready #1 display unit with 20 unused pocket lights from 1929. The display came with the original box the display came in when it was sold to the store owner! You can view more photos in the Show & Tell section. The pocket lights sell for around $30 in real good condition and a value of $40 in mint condition.

The red and black Chase vest pocket lights have the original S shaped filaments as does a couple of others. Always a bonus!

Have you ever wonder what the 'VP' stood for on some early Eveready vest/coat pockets lights? Vest Pocket. I also read the patent date of 1899 was the patent date for the first tubular flashlight, nothing to do with the vest or coat pocket lights.

Strange Pocket Light

unknown pocket light

Here's a one of kind 1930's pocket light. Not really. Maybe the guy wanted more light and added the reflector, which does give out more light. I tried it and it works well this way! This is the way I found it and the one I bought it from said It's always been this way. The way his grandfather gave it to him years ago.

1929 Burgess Ad

burgess snap lite ad

The 1929 Burgess snap lite may have been the first disposable flashlight made. When the battery ran out you just threw it away and bought another one. I think there was only one model you could change the battery and that may have used a AA battery pack. Will do a little more research.

Kwik-Lite

kwik-lite vest pocket

Brass Kwik-Lite from the 20's, (just a guess on the date) Looks like a two tone brass and brown, but it was well used. Comes a part in the middle to add the battery pack. A nice $3 find.

Gem-Lite?

gem pocket-lite

1930's Gem-Lite Art Deco Snap-Lite... or is it? This one came with the original glass bulb and Gem AA batteries. Makes you think it is a Gem-Lite, but, on the bottom of the light it has 'Flash-O-Lite'. No Gem-Lite name found on the light. Value $30-$45.

Allbrights

ULTRALITE

ultralite

Ultralite vest pocket flashlight. The bulb is inclosed in the case, as you can see. Has Petrie-Lewis, with a Pat date of Jan. 4, 1916 printed on the top lid. This could be used as a regular light, lantern, or, a light in a dark room. Had a red thin card that could slide in front of the bulb.
